Telephone & Data Cabling

Most modern cabling systems in business situations are now known as STRUCTURED CABLING.

This involves using the Category 5E or Category 6 copper data cabling for both Data and Telephony. In fact, modern digital telephone systems work better using data cabling in lieu of the traditional Category 3 telephone cabling and is specified for all new installations.

The Data Cabling appears at a common point within a DATA CABINET - terminated on patch panels which allow the customer to relocate computers at will. The telephone lines or extensions also appear on patch panels and can be "patched" just like the computers.

Within the average home, structured cabling is rare but starting to appear more. There are various specifications / designs by many companies, for wall mounted cabinets - usually flush with the wall and therefore, very shallow - with miniature patch panels for telephones, data and even television distribution. If you are planning to build a house, plan for structured cabling or, at very least, don't forget the computer, telephone and television cabling.

We can install telephone cabling to your existing house - most of our domestic telephone cabling nowdays is for ADSL or Broadband services to your computer.

StarServe cabinet by Clipsal - mounts flush in the wall - patching, modems, switches and tv distribution equipment

Clipsal StarServe is just one example of ways to manage Home Cabling - it has provision for Data and Phone outlets, room for a small data switch and modem, room for TV distribution amplifers etc. It mounts flush into the wall and allows the owner to patch phone, data and TV outlets without calling in a technician.

It is a legal requirement for phone & data cablers to hold a current Full Open Cablers Certificate

Don't trust your installation to electricians with only a Restricted certificate or installers with no certificate at all.
